Whisky, walking, wilderness…and the wild waves of winter

08 Mar 2025—15 Mar 2025

Residential

Islay - The house is a short walk from Machir bay and the wild Atlantic sea

We will be singing drinking songs, songs inspired by whisky and the wild Atlantic ocean, as well as other songs from Scotland, and singing on walks along these fabulous beaches and on gentle walks through these pleasant Scottish hills. We’ll sing round the fire in the house, and in other venues on the island where singing is welcomed and valued.

Islay is sometimes called the Whisky Island because of its 9 distilleries – we will be visiting some of them and singing over a wee dram (or 3.)

Accommodation is in a magnificent country mansion between one of the best family run distilleries, famous as Islay’s only home farm distillery growing its own barley, distilled by family craftspeople, and Machir Bay, where the waves crash is from the Atlantic and nature in the raw rules.

Lift shares can be arranged – or come by public transport via Glasgow, the CityLink bus to Kennacraig and the CalMac ferry to Islay.

Cost is £550 for 7 nights accommodation and meals, walks, workshops, singing etc. Some music can be sent in advance. Twin, double, and some single rooms.
