Songs of Solace and Sanctuary

21 Nov 2024

7.30pm—9.30pm

Whirlow Spirituality Centre, Sheffield

Sacred songs and silence, led by a team of four, including songs from Taize, the Wild Goose community, Findhorn, and a range of other sources. We welcome people of all faiths and none.

We will start with a short gentle warm-up, and after this we will be singing 2 songs in each half of the evening, with silence in between each one, and with each part taught separately. When we sing the songs together, there will be the option for individual singers to be quiet for a minute and come into the the centre of the room to listen to all the harmonies together, which can be a very moving experience. There will also be some poetry during the evening.

There will be a break halfway through the evening, when there will be the opportunity to sit quietly or have a drink.

We need to cover the cost of hiring the Chapel, which is £70 for the evening, and any surplus will be donated to City of Sanctuary Sheffield, which works with refugees and asylum seekers. We suggest a donation of £5 per person, if possible, although we don’t want to exclude anyone who can’t afford this. Please bring cash with you for this. Thank you.
