Dear All, for the the safety and well being of the group we are sadly pausing all Blooming Voices choir sessions for the foreseeable future, until the current situation with the Covid-19 virus has resolved somewhat. I have taken this decision together with full support from our partners at Stockport council and at St Thomas’, both of whom are looking forward to working with us again in due course. The sessions will probably be paused for at least the next 12 week, which takes us to mid June, and most likely until after the summer break. Please check back here periodically for more information, or check out our Facebook page for updates.

Sonja at Blooming Voices

A community choir singing music in every style going from all around the world, including but not limited to: pop, folk, world, blues, jazz, medieval, and classical songs. All abilities welcome, there’s no audition and no need to be able to read music!

Geared towards the over 50s age group, we are taking part in Stockport’s Cultural Champions project, getting more people involved with some of the exciting arts activities and opportunities available in Stockport.

For the next ten weeks – from 25th February 2020 – we are in an exciting new venue, St Thomas’ Church, in the heart of Stockport, which is a beautiful, Grade-1 listed commissioner’s church, a beautiful space with a really lovely acoustic for singing.

We are a relaxed and friendly group. Sessions last an hour and a half, and include a short tea and refreshments break.

Tutor: Sonja Froebel – trained at University of Birmingham BMus, MPhil. Interests include early and medieval song, world music, contemporary music and composing. Sonja is also active as a composer and piano teacher based in the Stockport area.
