Do you have breathing difficulties?

Started with support by the British Lung Foundation in May 2016,  this group is specifically for people with a breathing difficulty, such as a chronic lung disease like COPD or asthma but currenlty all are welcome.  The group is also attended by people who have difficulty breathing due to anxiety.  Anyone recovering from Covid-19 may also find it beneficial to attend.

Since March we have continued to meet online, with the usual relaxation and movement work to enhance natural breathing, voice and breath exercises and of course singing.  Songs that help to extend the out breath are chosen specifically.  There’s also time for chat before we start and at the end, so these sessions also offer an opportunity to connect with others.

Kate completed a British Lung foundation endorsed training course with Phoene Cave to provide safe and relevant singing instruction to people with lung conditions.   The aim is to help people breathe better as well as having fun.  No previous singing experience is necessary.  Family members are welcome to attend as well.

There is normally a fee of £4.00 but in the current circumstances Kate feels that it is more important than ever that you can attend, so payment is not expected.  However if you do wish to make a contribution in appreciation for this service it will be gratefully received.

Singing for Lung Health groups have been set up all over the country because it’s been found that singing can improve people’s breathing and quality of life.  Many are now taking place online.
