Further information:

There’s increasing evidence that singing regularly as part of a group is good for your general health and wellbeing. And there’s research that suggests group singing also has benefits if you have a long-term lung condition.

People living with COPD who joined a singing group said singing regularly reduced their feelings of being short of breath and helped them to manage their symptoms better.

After each session they coughed less and felt their breathing was generally easier. They also said their speaking voice got stronger.

Sessions will start with a warm up to help to protect your voice and vocal muscles. It will also help you to control your feelings of being out of breath by including breathing exercises. Sessions will include a variety of songs all taught by call and response so no previous experience is necessary. Sessions will help with symptoms you may face if you are living with a lung condition and above all will be fun!!
