Further information:

The South Downs Folk Singers are a large and rousing group who gather regularly in Worthing, Lewes and Chichester.

We learn and sing folk songs from Sussex, (and others we can’t resist!). We have quite a large repertoire of songs and add new ones all the time. The ones we all already sing are available to download from the website southdownsfolksingers.blogspot.co.uk, which makes it easy to join in!

I lead the Worthing gathering and the performances that we have the pleasure of doing all through the year. Last year we sang at Slindon Apple Day, Slindon Wassail (wonderful), Weald and Downland Museum Christmas Market and the Food and Folk Festival, Batemans 1st world war re-enactment day, Arundel Festival and more.

The Lewes and Chichester groups are led by previous members of the choir who brilliantly turned themselves into teachers when members of the group came from so far across Sussex that we decided we needed places to meet in different parts of the county.

Performance is not the most important part of our gatherings, some of our number just come to the regular get togethers to sing in good company. The performances are lovely to do and optional.

The gatherings are relaxed and friendly and you are most welcome to come and join us at any of the regular groups. Lots of info about events, news, songs, can be found on our website.
