Further information:

The Vocal Line, directed by Maggie Newlands, began in December 2016 as an informal musical get-together of friends who already enjoyed singing with each other.  Since then the group has grown, and we currently have 21 members.  We rehearse and perform as smaller groups made up of whoever is available at any given moment – we’re either busy professional people with demanding work commitments, or students and retired people, who are often even busier with assignments and exams and activities and grandchildren and holidays and ……….

We have sung world music, gospel, French chansons, Christmas Carols, and our own original arrangements of contemporary songs.  We’ve sung in a church, at a sailing club, on a farm, in a country cottage, at a Food Bank, in a community centre, and we gave our first major concert in February 2018 with violinist Zoe Hodi, a programme of music about refugees and homecoming to raise money for Highlands Supports Refugees.  In June 2019 we gave a concert of songs about love and things that move us, sharing the programme with writers from The Pen And I writing group and raising money for Target Ovarian Cancer.

We hold monthly Saturday workshops and weekly Thursday evening sessions, held in Lethen Hall in Audearn.
