5-day master class of jazz singing and improvisation, taught in English and directed by Kris Adams, singer and professor at Berklee College in Boston, with a final student concert on Sunday, 26 June at the cloisters of Sant ‘ Anna of Perugia.
Workshop dedicated to the singing of jazz and improvisation, with insights and concepts of harmony and arrangement. A great opportunity to practise and/or deepen vocal improvisation.
- vocal technique for the modern vocalist;
- improvisation in various styles of Jazz (bebop, standards and modal);
- blues (improvisation and style);
- ear training;
- swing in improvisation;
- the transposition of a song;
- the interpretation of the text;
- the creation of a repertoire.
It is requested that students have some familiarity with jazz and a love of singing. Kris Adams and participants will be accompanied on piano by Francesco Ciarfuglia.
Kris Adams has sung at venues and given educational instruction worldwide, and has shared stages, recording studios, and teaching clinics with such luminaries as Joe Lovano, Cameron Brown, Luciana Souza, Billy Drummond, Wayne Escoffery, Michelle Hendricks, and Paul Bley. Kris also has three solo albums to her credit, as well as multiple guest appearances and featured turns on a variety of jazz recordings and projects. She has adjudicated at many national music festivals, as well as participated in conferences around the world. Her latest CD “Longing” received 4 stars from Downbeat Magazine (2014).
