Join Lakeland Voices and the Penrith Community Choir on a starlit walk through the winter landscape – past the lake, through the woods and up fell – to Rydal caves which we will light with candles and sing our festive songs in this fabulous acoustic. You will need to have sung with either Lakeland Voices or Penrith Community Choir at our practices in Kendal or Penrith for at least half a term to be able to join this event.
Bring lanterns and cave food to share for our annual feast – mulled wine is also very popular!
Dress sensibly for winter walking – ie waterproofs, walking boots (or quality wellies,) and warm clothes. Torches essential, but cave etiquette demands that singers remove head-torches once the walk has finished so as not to dazzle your comrades when you talk to them.
We are singing from the Lakeland Voices repertoire – but singers who have also been to the Dent Folk Carols weekend will be well prepared. Written music can be sent in advance when booking is received.
Then down to the Badger Bar at Rydal for more singing round the fire, with mulled wine and mince pies.
