Chaps Choir are coming north in April for a two night jaunt for gigs and a workshop. Chaps Choir is a large male singing gang from London; say goodbye to the male voice choir most would recognise. Prepare for pop song re-hashes, snowy hunting calls, self-aware pirates and, well, lots of men singing …
Since the choir began in 2013 their voices have filled The Royal Festival Hall, The Roundhouse, The Union Chapel and other major London venues, they’ve played at Wilderness, Port Eliot, Citadel, collaborated with Omar, Samantha Whates, Joe Stilgoe, The Spooky Men’s Chorale, Voices Now, Irene Taylor Trust, The Choir With No Name, Music Venue’s Trust and recently recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
Ben Rhydding’s own male voice ensemble, MOSS – “Men Only Singing Songs” – is a small, vibrant group of men directed by Keely Hodgson. Formed in 2015, MOSS emerged from the men who came to sing in the Ben Rhydding Community Choir. They sing songs from the blues & jazz era, folk, contemporary pop & newly-composed songs for men’s voices, performing in and around the Ilkley area.
