A day of exquisite and uplifting Georgian singing! Under the expert guidance of visiting teacher Carl Linich, we will learn three-part songs in a variety of styles from different regions of Georgia (Caucasus), a country renowned for its extraordinary musical heritage. The workshop is suitable for singers of all abilities and you don’t need to be able to read music: songs will be taught by ear and word sheets will be provided.
Carl Linich (USA) is an internationally acclaimed singer and teacher who has been honoured by the Georgian government for his work in helping to promote and preserve Georgian folk music. He is a member of Trio Kavkasia and also directs the Supruli Ensemble in New York and the Georgian Choir at Bard College.
Carl’s previous workshops in Stroud have always been very popular. He is a Georgian speaker and makes these songs very accessible. Join us for a morning or afternoon or enjoy the whole day!
Different songs will be taught in each session.
