All are welcome to join the Heart & Soul Singing Retreats. This means that there will be a mix of people who have sung before and people who haven’t and every other singing experience in between.
The singing sessions are informal and no previous singing experience, or the ability to read music, is required. A varied repertoire of songs and rounds are shared. Keely teaches each harmony part in a call-and-response way so that a song is built up in small and memorable portions. As we listen to each harmony part, we build up a sense of the whole song and where we fit in.
Singing retreats offer an opportunity to take time out whilst discovering the joy of using your unique voice in harmony with others: combine singing in harmony with rest, nurturing and inspiration!
Parcevall Hall is the retreat house of the Anglican Diocese of Leeds.
A typical singing retreat programme:
Day 1: Guests arrive from 4pm and an evening meal is followed by introductions and a gentle sing.
Day 2: The morning is divided into two singing sessions with a coffee break. After lunch, guests are free to relax, explore the surrounding area. Following afternoon tea, a singing session brings everyone together before the evening meal. A gentle night-sing is offered.
Day 3: The morning’s sessions bring together the songs that have been shared and our time is rounded off with lunch and an opportunity for some parting songs before departures from mid-afternoon.
- “Each retreat is unique. When I sing a song, maybe months later, it reminds me of those who were there and the laughter we shared. “
- “Keely’s retreats provide enjoyable and inspirational singing sessions in a relaxed and non-threatening atmosphere. The learning by listening technique is fun and inclusive regardless of ability.”
- “It’s such a beautiful place, we have both met such interesting people and got such a buzz out of having the chance to sing together. It also feels a safe place to sing no matter how we feel about our voices.”
