Come and join a new Songways choir on Wednesday evenings starting on 14 September, led by Jane Harris in the beautiful setting and acoustics of St Swithin’s Church, The Paragon, Bath.
The choir will be fun, rewarding and open to all. All the songs and harmonies will be taught by ear and sung acapella (just voices in harmony), no experience is necessary and there is no need to read music.
There’s nothing quite like singing in harmony with others. It can be uplifting, heart-warming, moving, therapeutic, a great way to make friends and a lot of fun. Singing also makes you feel good, has proven health benefits and is a great way to relax after a busy day.
We’ll learn a wide variety of songs, from lyrical folk songs and rich South African choruses, to lively and rhythmic American songs and powerful songs of freedom. We’ll sing songs of stillness and peace and songs celebrating the natural world. We’ll enjoy new songs from some of our visiting tutors – including Ali Burns from Scotland, Northern Harmony, John Harrison and Brendan Taaffe from the US, and Tony Backhouse from New Zealand – and songs specially written for Songways by Jane.
All are welcome, from beginners to confident and experienced singers… come and be part of it. Please contact Jane to register your interest and to ensure you receive details nearer the time.
