Sing for a Change – Sing for Peace!
Come and sing with us to mark International Day of Peace: joining in with the global choral project #onedayonechoir we will be singing for peace on Saturday 22nd September at St John’s Hoxton from 3.30-5.30pm.
There will be choirs & singers performing but there is no audience – we are all singers and there will be many opportunities for singing participation. We will end the event with a scratch choir finale where everyone will learn one song to stand and sing together for peace.
This is a community not-for-profit event, so there will be no formal charge but we suggest a donation of £5 to cover costs and raise money for the North Hackney Welcome Project – a community group working towards resettling a refugee family in Hackney under the Home Office Community Sponsorship Scheme.
The event will be filmed for sharing on social media.
After the event if you’d like to stick around there will be a Live at St John’s gig at 7.30pm where we may perform our finale scratch choir song with anyone who can stay. You will need a ticket but can buy one at a reduced rate – more details to follow.
There will be pizza available to buy in the church gardens between events.
If you’re a choir/singing group and would like to come and share a song on the night, please do get in touch, as there are limited slots available. The song would be around the theme of peace/love/freedom and have an element of audience participation in it. Please email me: sara_hunter@icloud.com
This will be a family friendly event including children’s choirs so please make sure all content is appropriate!
Please do share and spread the word amongst peace loving, singing loving friends!
