Bitter Sweet Harmony are hosting a local community hoir festival, and six choirs in Dorset are coming together to showcase and perform, with amazing singing workshops in the day. This is a great opportunity to meet other choirs in the area, showcase our diverse styles and skills and to unite our souls in song to spread the love to others.
Bitter Sweet Harmony and the Care-Free Choir have been given money from John Lewis – Music Matters, and our idea was to run a community choir festival. Half the funds from the tickets will go to making a sensory garden in Poole Park and the other half will be put towards costs for next year.
Open to anyone – Meet and greet other choirs in area and final practice on 11th Feb 16:30 -18:30 Minster Hall.
Open to anyone! – even if you’re not in a choir. As part of the festival we are putting on workshops on the 11th February at East Dorset Heritage Trust, Allendale House, Wimborne Minster, Dorset, BH21 1AS. There will be three workshops available between 9am- 12 noon and 1-4pm:
– Improv without tears – gain confidence believing your abilities to create musical pieces in a group using rhythm, instrumental noise, words in songs – very liberating and safe.
– Breathing and posture – learning how to improve tone rage onset and phasing.
– Warms-ups with a difference – a new approach to warm-ups and why, which will radicalise your tuning and blending, and you will learn how to sing well together.
– Movement chanting and singing – more on the spiritual tips.
