An exhilarating weekend of acapella singing in the grand, luxurious setting of Dillington House. Part owned by Somerset County Council, this venue offers first class facilities yet the service is always friendly and informal. Singing for Larks has been enjoying weekends here since 2000.
On this weekend we shall be exploring the kind of complex, close harmonies found in British and American popular music of the 1920s, 30s and 40s. We may sing some standards from this period, unexpected songs that have been given the jazz or swing treatment and songs that have been created purely for these workshops. Some of the melodies may be familiar and therefore fairly quick to pick up; the harmony parts are varied, with some parts offering a challenge even to experienced acapella singers.
Dillington house is set in seven acres of mature parkland in beautiful South Somerset, 12 miles south east of Taunton and about a 20 minute drive from the M5. The nearest train station is Crewkerne (7 miles).
Great singing, delicious food, relaxation and good company!
