New to the Lancaster area….
Learn to sing powerful, ancient spiritual songs in unison and harmony. Drawing from Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian traditions, we will hear stories and sing songs for Yoruban deities including Elegua, Ogun, Oxossi, Ochun, and Yemaya.
These songs are traditionally accompanied by bata drums (a trio of Cuban drums), atabaques (Brazilian hand drums), shekere and bells. Dance and symbolism is also part of these traditions.
This short course will last for seven weeks. If these singing sessions take-off, we will continue after the last session. Also, we might be able to get a bata drumming trio to accompany the songs at the end. £6/5 concessions per session, or pay £35/£30 for the whole course.
