Every year at the end of May we take a tour of this fabulous former Yugoslavian republic famous for the magnificence of its mountains, the hospitality of its people, and the quality of its singing.
We stay in a country guest house with half-board accommodation, and sing alongside choirs in Bohinj, Bled, Zrece and Ljubljana – as well as visiting many other beautiful and interesting places.
Most of us will be going on the train using Interrail passes – via London, Brussels, Stuttgart and a day in the Black Forest mediaeval town of Rottweil, and meeting other singers – as we did in 2024. Then on via Munich to Ljubljana on the Blue Gentian train in old fashioned compartments ideally arranged for harmony singing. Leaving London at 11am on May 20.
Songs will include arrangements of Slovenian folk songs and other songs in English – which are sent in advance for home study via recordings, scores, and word booklets – there will also be singing workshops in advance on Zoom – and if possible, here in Cumbria, and in Slovenia. Previous tours have included singing at the wonderful Wild Flower festival in Bohinj. We have been going to Slovenia with singers for over 15 years.
Accommodation is half board (ie breakfast and evening meal) in twin and double rooms (nearly all en suite.) Lunches either packed lunches, or eating in cafes. The food is home cooked and delicious. The singing is scrumptious.
