Join a group of Slovenian and UK singers climbing Slovenia’s highest mountain – singing in the woods and mountain huts on the way up and down, and songs about the mountain and its place in Slovenian nationhood on the summit.
Our songs vary from rounds to longer songs in two, three and four part harmony – in Slovenian and English, about Triglav and the hills and nature we will be walking through. We have a Zoom singing session to learn the harmonies and tunes in advance – and also provide Youtube learning videos, and SoundCloud recordings. Booklets of words and scores will be sent by email.
We will be limiting our numbers for safety reasons, complying with government restrictions, and maintaining all the covid-19 precautions which kept all those who joined our singing walks safe last year. Please check travel restrictions before joining us.
Cost is £95 for the tour (including the Zoom tutorial, and word booklets) – plus expenses (eg Via Ferrata equipment, cafes, accommodation and transport.) Booking essential. You will need to dress appropriately for mountain walking and bring necessary items in a pack (waterproofs, walking boots, sunscreen, packed lunch, water bottle, thermos flask etc.)
Travel to Slovenia is advised via an Interrail train ticket which allows unlimited travel on any 5 days within a month (it takes 24 hours to reach Slovenia from the North of England via the Eurostar tunnel.) Staying in mountain huts – we will arrange everything!
As well as having led community choirs in Cumbria, Scotland and Slovenia for over 25 years, I have also completed Mountain Leader training and have led singing walks in the mountains in Slovenia and the UK for over two decades. This will be my fourth time climbing Triglav.
