A special participatory singing event led by Jane Harris, Director of Songways.
Following events in Bath Abbey and Wells Cathedral, Jane is excited to be leading Soul Soundings in Oxford for the first time.
Join us to sing, harmonise and let our voices soar in the superb acoustics of SJE Arts, Oxford’s venue for music and arts. Experience the resonance of this fine and sacred Grade 1 listed church. Sing freely and improvise. Enjoy beautiful songs and harmonies taught by ear.
SJE Arts hosts a wide range of events – choral, orchestral, opera, piano, chamber, jazz, world, folk and pop. The Grade I listed church of St John the Evangelist was designed by Victorian architect George Frederick Bodley as a place of worship for an Anglican religious order, the Society of St John the Evangelist – known affectionately as the Cowley Fathers. Plain chant was an important part of the Cowley Fathers’ worship and the church has a superb acoustic.
