Further information:

A chance to discuss singing, and hopefully do some singing! Taking place at a time when we have been told we cannot sing indoors with others, we will be discussing some of our favourite songs and talking about what singing means to us. Think of this as your chance to be part of your very own “Desert Island Discs” but also a new way of being with our very special singing buddies (known or yet to be discovered!).

If the weather is kind to us and we can sing outside, we will learn some new songs including songs from Taizé, songs in other languages and songs that help us to think about our singing journey and the part we play in singing with others. But please come prepared to talk about your favourite, song, hymn, piece of music or poem. If you want to you could also bring a recording (on CD or pendrive) or the sheet music / words. Janet Swan is an experienced choir leader but she also has an interest in the stories we tell and the way singing / being with others is crucial to our wellbeing.  If you are not a confident singer but want to feel part of something that is music and singing related, this has to be the perfect retreat for you at this time. The suggested donation includes all tuition, accommodation and meals.

Please note: Minsteracres retreat centre is an Ecumenical Retreat Centre and is very relaxed with its own bar and plenty of different spaces. The areas that we will be meeting in are large, and social distancing will be in place. Further, this is a Covid secure venue in line with UK Hospitality guidelines. The centre is located in beautiful gardens and NB there is no obligation to play any part in the religious life of the centre. Other safety measures can be found on the centre’s website.
