Join us high in the Pennines at Ribblehead station on the Settle Carlisle line for singing alongside other local singers, a singing walk and singing on the train through the snowy fells.
Songs learnt in advance, and some of the shorter songs at Ribblehead station and “on the hoof.”
Meet at Ribblehead Station at 10am for warm up and easy songs – then all aboard the 10:39 to Dent on the northbound train.
We will then walk four miles back to Ribblehead, up Dentdale and via the Settle Carlisle railway footpath, with many interesting railway features and stories about the railway en route.
Then singing in Ribblehead Station alongside singers joining us from Bentham and coming on the northbound train from Settle (arriving at 16:37) and in the Station Inn with a festive meal together (vegetarian or meat.)
And finally… a wee dram by the fire and a fond farewell to the singers going back to Settle on the 19:45 from Ribblehead station.
Please wear winter walking clothes with waterproofs, and good boots – and bring a packed lunch, thermos flask, your beautiful voices and sense of humour.
Non-walkers are welcome to join us where appropriate (send email.)
Our Lakeland Voice singers have been singing on the train for over 20 years – here on the Settle Carlisle railway, in Slovenia on the Soca valley railway, in Wales on the Heart of Wales Railway…and all the way from the Lake District to Slovenia by train singing under the Channel on the Eurostar, and then on trains through Belgium, Germany and Austria to Slovenia.
