Creating connection through song
Discover the delights of meeting together with others to learn and sing songs in harmony in the beautiful Georgian mansion at Beckenham Place surrounded by spectacular landscape
We can sing one note but we can’t sing in harmony on our own – we need each other! There is something comforting in the realisation that we gain so much more when we do things together and appreciate the gifts that each and every one of us brings.
Everyone will be warmly welcomed and there are no auditions, and everything is taught by ear.
We begin with light and fun exercises to gently warm up our voices, and simple rounds to lift our energy and help us tune into ourselves and each other, followed by easy songs taught clearly with a light touch, gradually moving into more intricate harmonies as our confidence grows to meet new challenges
The songs we sing will come from a variety of sources, eras and cultures with themes that remind us of all that we share in common and increase our sense of belonging and well-being.
It doesn’t matter whether you have sung a lot, or hardly ever, this workshop is designed to include and support everyone in participating freely without judgement. In the safe space that we create together, each of us has the opportunity to express our unique voice in a relaxed and accepting atmosphere.
Singing songs together can weave a kind of magic as we make connections with each other simply by sharing the beautiful sound of our voices coming together in harmony.
You can come along every week and be part of a regular group, or if that is not possible you can drop in when you can, and you are also welcome to mix between the weekly Monday evening workshops and the monthly Saturday morning workshops.
