Ellen Fisher is a brilliant artist and facilitator. Her workshops combine dance, music and voice, and encourage the body to sing and the voice to dance. She uses techniques that tap into intuitive rhythmic dance and invites us into a movement vocabulary that considers phrasing, gestural narratives and image. Her long working relationship with Meredith Monk has enabled her to hone these techniques and exercises through performing and team teaching.
This weekend workshop will run at these times:
Friday 14th 7-9pm, Saturday 15th 10am-4pm & Sunday 16th 10am-1pm.
Ellen is an interdisciplinary movement artist who performs internationally. She has had teaching appointments throughout Europe and the US. At present she is performing and teaching with the Meredith Monk vocal ensemble. Her performance work is informed by ethnographic research in trance dance and rituals of South Asia, particularly Sri Lanka, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. She continues to teach and collaborate with artists on community intergenerational and intercultural projects, both domestically and internationally. Ellen will be assisted by Sian Croose, Co-Director of The Voice Project.
