Who is Jenny?
Jenny is one of the founder members of The Natural Voice Practitioners’ Network and adheres to their principles that singing and using the voice freely is part of being human. She has been working as a singing and voice teacher, workshop leader and choir director for over 25 years. She originally trained with Frankie Armstrong and over the years has been committed to her own continued professional development, attending a range of voice and singing courses – specifically she has attended Voice courses at Central School of Speech and Drama and Leeds College of Music and is influenced in her work by Patsy Rodenburg and Kristin Linklater, two of the most influential voice teachers in the world of theatre. For the past 12 years she has had regular singing lessons with Mark Maylan, a leading voice coach in the UK and internationally who regularly works on West End and Broadway productions including working with Imelda Staunton and Daniel Radcliffe.
Jenny combines her voice practice with a background in adult education and group work and specifically work around confidence building and self esteem and believes that confident use of the voice builds confidence in other aspects of life, Previously Jenny was guest tutor in voice at the Drama Departments of both Birmingham and Huddersfield Universities. Jenny currently leads Far Cry acapella performance group and performs herself with acoustic/roots band Jenny and the Good Men and acapella duo The Blameless Hussies.
