Traditional folk-songs, lullabies and healing songs in gorgeous polyphonic harmony from the Caucasus Region. Taught by ear.

Sing under the skilled and gentle guidance of Nana Mzhavanadze, an eminent musicologist from the Guria region of Georgia. She was recently interviewed on Sam Lee’s Radio 4 programme The Song Hunters (Suppression and Survival) and speaks movingly of her family songs and experiences. On this rare visit to Oxford she will bring unique songs from her village and family traditions which are thrilling to sing.

UNESCO describes Georgian polyphonic singing as representing ” the intangible nature of humanity”.

The venue is right in the centre of Oxford and easily accessible from the train station, coach station and city centre bus stops.
