World of Voices – Folk & World Music
Online festival with a different singing workshop every month.
Travel and learn about the world through song.
On Zoom with great song leaders from around the world.
Hosted by Kajsa Norrby (Långrådna – Sweden)

Guest song leaders 6/6 are:
Lamine Cissokho (Senegal, now based Kalmar – Sweden)
Holly Taylor-Zuntz (Oxford -UK , Teach Georgian polyphonic tradition)

This is a “World Music Voice Camp” online with different workshops every month.
I invite amazing guest voice leaders from different countries, cultures & traditions for every workshop. The workshops will be a way to travel and learn about our world and get to sing fabulous songs, together with really inspiring teachers.

By extension, World of Voices will, as soon as it is possible to have festivals again, become a voice and song camp at “Långrådna Kultur”, a culture centre on the east coast of Sweden. A voice camp with world music and community singing.
What if people who meet for the first time in person then have songs, harmonies and melodies as a common language. Wouldn’t it be incredibly beautiful! Imagine when we can all meet and burst out into song together! Imagine all the tears and laughter, when you realise that you were never alone in your home in front of your screen. You were building bonds with people you did not know through singing.
Let this workshop series online create unity and love , connections and curiosity for folk & world music, traditions and cultures and each other. Let us travel through song and “Sing the world” together! We have to do what we can now, otherwise we will not be able to do what we dream of in the future. Lets start now!

6/6 is the third  workshop in this project. I´m so exited to invite two new amazing voice leaders.
Lamine Cissokho from Senegal with a music tradition since the 14th century !
Holly Taylor-Zuntz from UK with the heart in Georgian polyphonic singing!

I will host the session from Långrådna Kultur in Sweden.
All songs are taught by ear – Everyone is welcome – No Experience of singing is needed.

Kajsa is a singer, songwriter and choir leader from Sweden. Her musical background is classical singing, world music and theatre.

“My music is my soul, my heritage and my voice for peace and respect”

Lamine Cissokho is from the Casamance region, in southern Senegal, and comes from a family of mandinka griots, whose traditions date back to the 14th century. He is now based In Sweden. He is a world famous musician and plays the traditional instrument Kora and sings. The kora is passed from father to son, so are its melodies and apprenticeship. He spent his childhood and teenage years crafting the instrument and learning how to master it, under the supervision of his father, Sana Cissokho, a famous griot from Ziguinchor, and of his great-uncle, Lalo Keba Drame. Everyone in the family are great musicians!
Lamine will share his traditions and teach us about the music and songs of Senegal together with his Kora-the west African 22-stringed harp! He is a great world music  artist and it will be amazing to sing and learn songs from him, an honor to sing along in harmonies with the Kora as well !  Cant wait! Improvisation and playful creation. Traditions in combination with curiosity for all sorts of music and cultures.

Holly is a singer, performer and teacher from Oxford, UK.
Having grown up singing folk and polyphony from around the world, she trained her voice while studying musical theatre at drama school. Her theatre training then took her to Poland and expressive voice practices.
She has spent the last four years enchanted by Georgian polyphony, learning from local singers in Georgia.
She is host of the Voices of the Ancestors podcast about Georgian polyphonic songs and the women who sing them.
Her inclusive practice encourages singing with whatever voice you have today, combining embodied vibrational techniques with the ‘natural voice’ ethos.

Georgian songs are usually sung in three voices, so Holly will be joined by her friends from London Georgian choir Maspindzeli – Jenny Barrett and Polly Hunt.
They will sing live to bring the polyphony to life for you.
