Find a choir or singing group

On this page you can search for a choir or singing group by its name or by location.

If you are searching in the UK, click on “By location” and select “United Kingdom”, and you will then be able to narrow down your search by postcode. Alternatively you can zoom in on the map.

If you are searching for a choir outside the UK, you will be able to search by country.

Then click on the button to initiate the search. You will then get an outline of the choirs and singing groups which match your search and you’ll be able to view full details. Please use these to contact any choirs that you’re interested in.

If you need to contact the NVN, rather than an individual choir, you can do so by emailing admin@naturalvoice.net

Evenings of Chant and Song

Location

Central location with parking nearby, usually Mill Road area

Description

An invitation!  Join us as we gather in the evenings and to share food and chant together, journeying as ever through chant created with intention.

Everything is taught by ear, so no singing experience needed, and we sing simple heart-opening chants by candlelight.  The chants and songs may come from or be inspired by wisdom traditions or drawn from the river of song and their heritage and the song-writers are honoured.  Songs might include Prana chants, chant from earth-based traditions, or chant inspired by sacred texts or mantras.  They may be in simple harmony or sung in unison.

Singing in this way relaxes the body, regulates the nervous system, and helps us reconnect with our heart, our path, and our community.  New people come all the time and you will be very welcome.  It’s a chance to open the voice, receive sound, connect with others and be nourished in body and soul.

We eat together before singing – usually I or another singer will cook a sweet potato dahl and rice (vegan and gluten-free) to share beforehand, or similar.  If the weather is fine, we may sing round the fire or gather round it afterwards too.

You will be so welcome to join us and drop in to warmth, nourishing food and heart-opening chant and song.

We meet on Thursday evenings once or twice a month off Mill Road, central Cambridge.  Everyone welcome.  CB1, parking nearby.  Cost on a sliding scale, at the time of listing this is £15 /£11 /£8.

Far Cry Acapella

Location

Queen Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2SP

Description

Far Cry is a mixed voice, Huddersfield-based acapella performing group. We sing a variety of songs from different folk traditions around the world, plus original material and the occasional pop song. Although not a political choir, we are committed to social justice and some of our material reflects that. You can hear us sing anything from a rousing Luddite anthem to Georgian lullabies, South African anti apartheid songs to folk carols with a dash of The Beatles and Gershwin.

We meet under the guidance of Jenny Goodman every Thursday evening in term time.

Far Cry is an auditioned group but we work orally with no written music. Practice tracks are available. Our sessions include voice and body warm-up and breath work, as well as work on blend and pitching. There is a strong focus on developing a good sound and we work hard but also have lots of fun. We perform regularly around the locality.

You can see us here and hear one of our original local songs.

Thursday evenings 7.30 to 9.30 pm

Feel Good Choir

Location

West Wickham and Shirley Baptist Church, Wickham Rd, Croydon CR0 8EH

Description

A friendly, inclusive, acapella choir where you just turn up and sing. No commitment needed and no performances. We meet because we love singing and the benefits it brings to mind, body and soul. Some harmonies are taught, some are made up. Members are encouraged to try new things in a safe space. We start every evening with names and an icebreaker so that everyone feels included. Once a term we have a bring and share meal where friends and family are invited to an informal singalong. The choir leader, Jo Bega, is passionate about inclusive, joyful singing and tries to be super-encouraging.

Session times

Monday evenings in term time from 7 to 9pm with a tea break in the middle
