Find a choir or singing group

On this page you can search for a choir or singing group by its name or by location.

If you are searching in the UK, you will be able to narrow down your search by postcode (or by zooming in on the map.)

If you are searching for a member who is outside the UK, you will be able to search by country.

Then click on the button to initiate the search. You will then get an outline of the choirs and singing groups which match your search and you’ll be able to view full details. Please use these to contact any choirs that you’re interested in.

If you need to contact the NVN, rather than an individual choir, you can do so by emailing admin@naturalvoice.net

Seasonal Community Folk Choir

Location

The Pavilion, Fownhope Recreation Field, Caplor Lane, Fownhope, Herefordshire, HR1 4PE.

Description

A series of Seasonal Community Folk Choirs through the year, with song sharing in the spring, summer, autumn and winter – including some fun with Herefordshire Carols (collected by Ella Mary Leather) and ‘Village Carols’ from the Sheffield tradition in the run up to Christmas.

These are short burst choirs of 4 weeks at a time, with a focus on seasonal and local traditional songs – as well as rounds and simple warm up songs from the global folk tradition.

This is an opportunity to sing for pleasure in a relaxed & friendly group atmosphere – singing for the love of singing – and for enjoyment of folk song and community.

All songs will be taught by ear, and no experience is necessary. All voices are welcome, there is no audition, and no-one will be asked to sing on their own. No music reading is required.

Our next seasonal Choir is in March 2024, with 4 evenings of celebration and song, open to everyone. Join us on Thursdays 7 – 9pm, on the 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th March. Email Kate for more details.

Session times

Thursday evenings, 7 - 9pm through March 2024.

Secret Shore Singers

Location

Old Songs Home Community Hall, 21 Gratwick Road, BN11 4BH

Description

The Secret Shore Singers are a rousing bunch who get together to learn and sing shanties from all parts of the world. They have been singing together for about 6 years. They were formed after a 2 year HLF project that explored the folklore, history and songs of the south coast by those who didn’t want to stop singing!

Shanties are rousing and heartfelt and a delight to sing. The fortnightly gatherings are great fun and a chance to give full welly to your voice!

Although I still run shanty sessions from time to time, this regular group is now being facilitated by Jonny Mott, a wonderful and inspiring chap. All details can be found by emailing Jonny – jonnymottmusic@gmail.com

Session times

The sessions are in two locations - Worthing and Littlehampton. For full details please contact Jonny.
