My approach is about creating a safe and supportive space to learn and grow together, which mirrors how to effectively lead a singing group, where participants are seen, heard and co-creating with their facilitator. Combining practical musicianship skills with extensive singing leading experience, this course is practical. Each session is structured around how to lead an effective singing session, starting with a warm-up, learning a song and with demonstrations and opportunities to try things out.

My background
I studied choral and orchestral conducting as part of my undergraduate degree, before going on to specialise in choral conducting, studying with Antoine Finck in Lyon, France. I have since attended training in creative leadership with Peder Karlsson (The Real Group, Perpetual Jazzile) whose approach I have been heavily influenced by in both my own leadership and training other singing leaders. This takes a starting principle of care, developed into practical strategies to leading and running a choir to ensure equality, listening, respect and each person being of value to the group. I have developed this approach, training other choir leaders with my work founding choir organisations Vocality Singing Ltd and Pram Chorus. My singing leading experience is with people of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to professionals as well as a range of settings such as hospitals, schools, corporations, community and voluntary organisations, people who have experienced homelessness, refugees, adults with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties, children with SEND, mothers with PND amongst others.
