Natural Voice community choir and singing walks
I’ve always enjoyed singing and have been a member of many different kinds of choir in the past. At one time I taught music in primary schools and then specialised in recorder ensemble. I attended Nick Prater’s ‘Sharing the Music’ courses prior to joining the NVN. I particularly enjoy the accessibility of Natural Voice choirs and believe that everyone can benefit from the connection of singing together and experiencing harmony. During the pandemic I made use of Zoom to connect online and also started singing walks, which I have continued to lead at weekends every 4-6 weeks in the countryside surrounding Stroud.
Our repertoire is varied and includes a variety of genres, from rounds to four-part harmony. Songs are taught by ear, so music-reading skills are not a necessity.
There will be opportunities to perform, but our main concern is to enjoy connecting with others through harmony, while increasing vocal confidence.
Wednesdays 7.30 - 9.00pm during term-time
I lead singing walks at a variety of locations around Stroud. Each walk will be approx 3.5 miles, with breaks to learn and sing simple songs – rounds or 2-3 part harmony. Songs will have an environmental and/or seasonal connection.
The walks are usually for around 3 hours on Sunday afternoons. Please contact me for dates.
The terrain will include hills and uneven ground, so appropriate footwear is essential.
Intermittently on Sundays, for about 3 hours between 12-5 pm.
