I run 3 weekly term-time groups in Sheffield, all open access and taught by ear.
I have been teaching natural voice singing groups since 2001, and most of my work is running ongoing weekly groups. I love the way that singing together creates community, and enjoy the process of teaching and nurturing different singing communities. I have worked in the past using singing as a therapeutic activity with groups of carers, women fleeing domestic abuse, and people living with M.E., and one of the groups I run now, Singing through the Seasons, is a therapeutic singing-for-wellbeing group for women seeking to support their mental health.
I have produced two songbooks of original material for community choirs, ‘Honey and Salt‘ and ‘Scattered Seeds‘, and a third collection, available as a pdf, called ‘Singing in the dark times’.
Body of Sound is a women’s singing group. We love singing, enjoy the sound we make together and want to get more confident in using our voices. We don’t have any auditions; even if you feel a bit apprehensive about singing in a group or possibly quite terrified, you’re very welcome – a lot of us felt that way when we first joined and some of us still do.
We do occasional local gigs and busking sessions throughout the year for causes we support.
Wednesdays in term time - 19:30 - 21:30
