Additional information

Faith has been running Harmony Singing workshops since the late 1980s and is one of the original members of the NVN. She works under the company name Singing for Larks, running her own regular groups as well as one-off days and weekends countrywide. She also delivers workshops for social, health, educational and corporate organisations as well as for amateur and professional singing groups, choirs and theatre groups. Her particular interests are Jazz and Swing Harmonies, song arranging and group improvisation.

Faith writes and arranges many of the songs she teaches and her songs are for sale on her own website.

Faith offers mentoring for aspiring, new and established workshop leaders and will deliver training in Teaching Songs Clearly, Running your Own Singing Workshops and Song Arranging on request.

Faith is a member of the acapella group The Lovenotes, with Katherine Watson (no relation) and fellow NVN members: Jules Gibb and Rose Hodgson. They often perform with jazz / blues singer, Helen Watson (also no relation!) The Lovenotes offer workshops as a group. They have 4 CDs available.

At the heart of all Faith’s work there remains a love of acapella singing and the belief that everyone, no matter what their level of skill, confidence or experience, can enjoy the thrill of singing in harmony.

Manchester Larks
Description

This informal weekly group has been going, in one form or another, since 1991, led by Faith throughout. The group has a number of long-standing members, yet a constant flow of new members, returning ‘old’ members and occasional visitors, keeps it fresh and thoroughly enjoyable. Just like Shylarks, we sing a variety of songs, including some from the standard acapella repertoire, original songs and arrangements, jazz, soul, folk, pop, songs from around the world… whatever takes our fancy. We’re not a performance group, but we occasionally find ourselves getting together with other singing groups for a joint sing, supporting local events or marking significant moments in members’ lives. New members are welcome at any time. No experience is necessary and you don’t need to be able to read music.

Session times

Tuesdays, 7-9pm

Shylarks
Description

A friendly and informal weekly group. Just like Manchester Larks, we sing a variety of songs, including some from the standard acapella repertoire, original songs and arrangements, jazz, soul, folk, pop, songs from around the world… whatever takes our fancy. We’re not a performance group, but we occasionally find ourselves getting together with other singing groups for a joint sing, supporting a local event or singing under the tree outside at Christmas. New members are welcome at any time. No experience is necessary and you don’t need to be able to read music.

This group, that has been going since 2007, is led by Faith and a Teaching Team made up of members of the group, including NVN members: Anita Ward and Annelie Leinhos.
