I’m a traditional folksinger, recording artiste and experienced tutor & singing facilitator of workshops, singing groups & master classes.  Starting in the  90s, after studying in London and teaching at Guildford School of Acting, I returned North and set up a number of choirs in Scotland, developing these from ‘Singing for Fun with Christine Kydd’ workshops, including Sangstream, Angus Folk, Sangschule, Burns Quoir, each of which I worked with for a number of years.   I also developed and worked weekly with Just Singin Birnam for 12 years ( JS is now almost 20 years old!) on a range of traditional & contemporary sources, performing regularly including yearly at Dougie Maclean’s Perthshire Amber Festival .

I have frequently run Voice and Song Masterclasses and a number of workshops for festivals and events including the Big Big Sing in Sheffield, and I’ve worked in Europe, North America and Russia as concert performer and workshop leader. Examples of who I have worked for can be found on my website.

I’ve arranged a great many traditional songs, and plan to create resources including those.  I’ve co-written a manual for choir leaders with Ali Burns.  Working with an Alexander Technique teacher we ran some courses before the pandemic that went down well. I continue to guest with choirs and projects. In my teaching, above all I try to make it all fun and sound good.

Currently I work a lot with people living with dementia and their carers in Meeting Centre. I have developed a model from Living Voices to incorporate artwork, using my skills as folklorist, and in song, I  also work to a person- centred model to encourage singing and participation. Whatever the group or situation, I try to make it fun!
