Additional information

My profile does not follow the typical NVN pattern. I do not lead a choir, nor am I equipped to lead any harmony beyond the simplest. But I do love to sing, and to learn about developing my voice. I am a massively enthusiastic embracer of the NVN approach, since meeting Frankie Armstrong in the 1970s.  I participated in the NVN voice leader training in 2017 and learned a great deal from this –  not least that my skills in group facilitation honed over many years transfer well to the singing group setting.

I do lead leadership and coaching skills workshops for different groups, and often begin these with vocal preparation exercises, which work so well in group members getting their voice out there, as well as helping participants bond one with another.

I am keen to work with encouraging more men to sing. I have sung extensively with the blokes’ singing leviathans that prowl the UK including Bloke Fest and Singing in the Shed. I would really like to be part of getting more men singing here in Devon, beyond lusty shanty singing, which I really like, but not as a sole diet. \

A recent departure for me is working with a group of NVN song writers and leaders in developing their practice of reflective writing, especially in regard to pondering on the origins and roots of their individual unique practice.
