My Background

I have been working as a community musician since 1995, and also giving participatory performances in the health and social care sectors through various organisations, especially through Music in Hospitals and Care since 1998.

I have had broad  experience at leading a range of types of singing (and other musical) activity in health and educational contexts, with a huge and constantly growing repertoire which I teach by ear, with use of some hand-out sheets of lyrics when appropriate. Much of this growing repertoire has come about in response to requests from participants over the years.

I have;

  • A Certificate in Music Workshop Skills from Goldsmiths College University of London.
  • Safeguarding Certificate
  • DBS
  • Public Liability Insurance

Ongoing Work.

  • I have recently started facilitating “Singing Geese” (community singing group) at St. John’s, Goose Green, SE London.
  • Since 2015 I have also been leading the monthly voice exercise club for Parkinson’s UK Henley branch.

Some Previous Work;

  • Facilitating  “The Singing Tree – Singing for Wellbeing” group for Croydon Community Choir.
  • Leading regular singing activities  at the Healthy Living Club in Stockwell.
  •   Running the Cossall Community Choir at my local Tenants’ Hall.
  • Leading weekly sing-songs at Hall Grange Care Home, also through Croydon Community Choir. Songs included jazz standards and rock ‘n’ roll.
