I am a singer songwriter and experienced community choir leader. I have been leading choirs for 25 years and have been a singer always. I am currently Musical Director for Cloud 9 Choir in Wakefield and one of the regular directors for Hull Freedom Chorus. I often work as guest director for other choirs and lead singing events. I was Musical Director for Wakefield Cathedral’s Praise Singers for 7 years and organised a variety of performances and one world music events for choirs and musicians. I love to travel and have been guest director and led workshops for choirs and music groups in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Sierra Leone and Sweden.
I am also a composer and arranger of choral pieces and have had commissions from the National Coal Mining Museum England, Hull Freedom Chorus, Long Division Festival and Hoot Music. I was musician in residence at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and the National Coal Mining Museum England and for the Tour de Yorkshire 2018 in Filey. I have worked closely on a project with the Quirky Choir in Doncaster as part of DNWeekeND festival. I have regular work running singing projects for people with mental health issues in the community, in secure hospitals, working with elders in residential homes and the community, inter-generational work, working with asylum seekers and refugees, and in hospices. I also run African Drumming workshops alongside African singing and dance for all ages in a wide variety of settings. I am currently one of the core team in Wakefield delivering Singing for Lung Health weekly sessions. I am also experienced in delivering songwriting workshops.
