Having been involved in choirs for years, I was introduced to the joys of acapella in 2007 by the amazing Faith Watson, who also helped me to develop my teaching skills, first as part of the Teaching Team with Shylarks in Old Trafford, then as leader of ‘Singing for Fun’ in Bury from 2013. In January 2016 I became MD of the new ‘Off the Wall’ choir in central Manchester (now re-named Quarternotes), and in January 2017 I took over as leader of the Urmston U3A Choir.
I love being able to help people sing together in harmony, whether it’s just for the joy of it, or leading towards a performance. I also run occasional half-day workshops and have led harmony workshops for my local church in Old Trafford.
I believe singing can be a profoundly spiritual experience without having to be ‘religious’ and my workshops are open to all, featuring a mix of world music, pop classics, fun rounds and gentle meditative songs.
