Anita Ward

Having been involved in choirs for years, I was introduced to the joys of acapella in 2007 by the amazing Faith Watson, who also helped me to develop my teaching skills, first as part of the Teaching Team with Shylarks  in Old Trafford, then as leader of ‘Singing for Fun’ in Bury from 2013. I still sing with Shylarks and sometimes lead a session with the rest of the Teaching Team if Faith Watson is unavailable. Since 2016 I’ve been MD of Quarternotes choir in Manchester and occasionally stand in for other groups.

I love being able to help people sing together in harmony, whether it’s just for the joy of it, or leading towards a performance. I have also led one-off and fund-raising workshops (for Water Aid), as well as for Christmas and other festivals at my local church (St John’s) in Old Trafford.

I believe singing can be a profoundly spiritual experience without having to be ‘religious’ and my workshops are open to all, featuring a mix of world music, pop classics, fun rounds and gentle meditative songs.
