Christine Kydd ADVS (London RCSSD 1992) (Voice) Mitt (Aberdeen University of Aberdeen 2014) Ethnology and Folklore..
I’m a traditional folksinger, recording artiste and experienced tutor & singing facilitator of workshops, singing groups & master classes, I set up a number of choirs in Scotland, from my Singing for Fun with Christine Kydd workshops, including Sangstream, Angus Folk, Sangschule, Burns Quoir, each of which I worked with for a number of years after set-up. I also developed and worked weekly with Just Singin Birnam for 12 years on a range of traditional & contemporary sources, performing regularly including yearly at Perthshire Amber.
I have frequently run Voice and Song Masterclasses and a number of workshops for festivals and events including the Big Big Sing in Sheffield, and I’ve worked in Europe, North America and Russia as concert performer and workshop leader. Examples of who I have worked for can be found on my website. I work a lot with people living with dementia and their carers. Whatever the group or situation, I try to make it fun!
I’ve arranged a great many traditional songs, and plan to create resources including those. I’ve recently co-written a manual for choir leaders with Ali Burns At present my main focus is on songmaking in schools, but I continue to guest with choirs and projects. In my teaching, above all I try to make it all fun and sound good!
