Clare Drury

I run an established singing group, Saturday Sing in Hull which is firmly rooted in the principles of the NVN.  We meet roughly 7 times per term at Artlink on Princes Ave, for fun and informal harmony singing, with occasional performances for those who wish to take part.

I’m lead artist on a Human Jukebox project in Hull, supported by Back to Ours, which is a pioneering project reaching out to communities by singing on doorsteps. Community is at its heart and an important aim is getting people talking to each other through singing and encouraging people to give singing a go.

Grounded in choral music in my youth, I returned to singing via folk sessions, and writing my own songs in my late 20s. I discovered the Natural Voice approach to choir singing, and became a choir leader with Hull Community Voices, for 10 years, before moving on to develop my own independent practice.

I established 2 regular groups in Hull, Saturday Sing and Heartsong, in Hull and now run Saturday Sing, which has been established for over 10 years.

I am also employed as Arts Development Officer for Hull City Council, in which capacity I have developed a choral development strategy for Hull, Singing City, part of which has been to create a large massed choral group, Hull Freedom Chorus – a project group with a membership of over 800, which was founded in 2011 and which continues to grow.

I offer workshops including  a capella songs/harmonies from around the world, taught by ear. I focus on the joy of group singing, impact of voice on health, well being & personal growth.

I offer healing voice workshops and have an interest in sacred sound and energy work which informs these workshops.

I will take individuals for basic vocal coaching and support.
