Janet Swan

I have been sung to all my life and I have learnt so much from listening. Now I want to share what I have learnt, so that using just your ears, a relaxed body and the support of other singers, you too can enjoy singing.

My interest is particularly in singing for wellbeing: helping you to feel ok about using your voice; connecting your voice to your body; really finding the joy of singing even if you prefer just to listen at first!

I have many years experience as a group leader and speech therapist and work with a number of specialist groups including those living with dementia and chronic lung conditions. I lead acapella choirs (without accompaniment) where the emphasis is on fun and songs with meaning and soul. In addition I have trained carers, care staff and health practitioners to sing during their practice as this can help a range of clients. I try to create an environment where people feel safe to try singing (no matter what they have been told about their singing voice in the past), and to create a community of singers who have fun and support each other.
