Choir leader and director
Katie is a choral leader and primary music teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience.
Growing up in a Welsh household was the foundation of Katie’s singing career. Most of her early singing tuition took place on long car journeys where her mother would teach her and her sister to harmonize, it soon became clear that she had picked up the Welsh ear for a tune. Katie’s love of performing branched out beyond the M6 and onto the stage and she eventually gained a degree in Acting and Musical Theatre from the GSA Conservatoire in Guildford.
It was after her degree whilst she was working as an actress/singer that Katie met Anna Tabbush, a successful folk musician who invited her to join her choir, Guildford Vox. Katie enjoyed singing with Guildford Vox for a number of years. It wasn’t until a slight calamity (Anna stuck in traffic) at a rather high profile performance; where she had to stand in at the last minute and conduct the 70 strong chorus, that she realised that choir leading might be the path for her.
In 2009 she moved to Brighton and set out to reignite one of Anna Tabbush’s old flames, Brighton Vox. With help from a handful of devoted old members Katie re-opened Brighton Vox in September 2009 and Lewes Vox in 2011. Katie has also led workshops at Evolution Arts in Brighton and at Singfest,
