I am a professional vocal coach, choir leader and singing for health and well-being practitioner. I set up and co- direct 3 successful community choirs. As well as running the choirs, I am an established singing teacher working in several schools to provide singing lessons to pupils. I also teach singing privately.
I am passionate about singing for health and well-being, and as well as running singing sessions in many local nursing and residential homes, I work in conjunction with Parkinson’s UK and the Alzheimer’s Society to run singing sessions specifically for their service users. I run the Hereford Branch Parkinson’s UK singing group, The Hereford Canaries, and also singing groups with Redditch and Leamington Parkinson’s UK Branches. Furthermore, I am a Singing for the Brain leader with the Alzheimer’s Society, running sessions in Evesham and Redditch.
I am also an accredited singing group leader with the British Lung Foundation, and have started a choir for people with breathing difficulties which meets on a fortnightly basis.
I am director of a Community Interest Company which aims to bring singing to groups of people in society who may not normally benefit from such an activity. To date, I have run successful pilot projects in HMP Brinsford with young offenders and with the Warwickshire and Worcestershire Community Rehabilitation Company. I hope to expand this work further into more socially excluded groups such as people with mental health issues, homeless people and those with addictions.
I have carried out numerous talks to community groups about the benefits of singing for health and well-being and also work with corporations to deliver team building and ice breaker sessions to staff, which are hilarious and great fun as well as having positive mindfulness and stress relieving benefits.
All in all, I am passionate about singing and the positive benefits it can have for everyone!!
I am based in Studley, Warwickshire
