After moving from Cambridge to Germany, I started a community choir in the east German village of Caputh, near Potsdam and Berlin, in 2014.
SoNG, Singen ohne Noten Gruppe (Singing without notes) is a group of about 20 enthusiastic men and women of different ages and backgrounds, who meet every Monday evening to sing in harmony a wide variety of songs in different languages, a cappella, and learned by ear. The choir is open to everyone and no experience is required. We sing for joy and for ourselves, but about twice a year we challenge ourselves and perform in the village.
Apart from this community choir, I lead a couple of singing groups for mums with babies in Potsdam; “The mamas & The papas; Kinderwagenchor”. Everyone with a baby (0 – 2 years) is welcome. We sing acapella, easy harmony songs and lullabies and meet every week.
I offer workshops for international lullabies for pregnant women and parents with young babies.
In 2019 I initiated a singing group for supporting ill and elderly people, called “Nachtlicht Projekt”.
