Pauline wrote this song towards the end of December 2013 in response to the darkness of winter and the particular feeling of hibernation that she felt during that very wet winter. She was also in a reflective, inward mood as a result of having experienced a lot of death during 2012 of both friends and members of her community. It’s a very seasonal piece about resting during the dark of winter ready for renewal in the spring.
The song is good for practising close harmony with the top three parts plus the challenge of a bass part that has a different pattern and rhythm to the other three parts.
